Maintz Pattern Roman Gladius

Based on originals excavated from the ruins of Pompeii. You can see examples in H. Russell Robinson's book "What The Soldiers Wore On Hadrian's Wall". The Gladius was an efficient weapon that excelled in close quarters combat situations. The wasp waisted gladius, like this Maintz style, combined cutting power and stabbing ability in one handy weapon.

Handcrafted from high carbon spring steel. Handle is faux ivory. Complete with scabbard that features ornate brass applique. Ships with an unsharpened edge.

28" overall with a 19 1/2" blade. Weighs around 2 pounds 6 ounces.
