Square Pilum

This version is based on a late version that is slightly weighted to aid penetration. It was common arount 100 AD. The pilum was the principal weapon of the Roman legionnaire. It was well designed to destroy the ability of the opponent's shield defenses. The short head could easily penetrate and the long neck prevented the head from being cut off. Made of mild steel, the pilum would easily bend to prevent it from being thrown back. Later when battle had subsided, it could be retrieved and straightened.

This is the head only. Designed for a 1 1/4" pole.

40" overall with a 2" blade. Weighs around 2 pounds 4 ounces.
